A specialist independent school is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teacher to join its dedicated team. The school provides highly personalised education for young people aged 6-19 with complex additional needs, including PMLD, MLD, SLD, autism, ADHD, sensory needs and associated difficulties. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about specialist education and wants to make a genuine difference to the lives and future outcomes of young people with additional needs.
The Role
- Plan and deliver engaging, personalised and high-quality learning.
- Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Adapt the curriculum to meet the individual needs of learners.
- Work closely with therapists, support staff and other professionals.
- Assess, record and report on student progress.
- Contribute to curriculum development and whole-school improvement.
- Lead and support teaching assistants and other adults within the classroom.
- Support students with sensory, communication and behavioural needs.
- Potentially support with physical intervention and personal care routines.
The Ideal Candidate
- QTS, PGCE or an equivalent teaching qualification.
- A strong understanding of the Teachers' Standards.
- Experience or knowledge of working with students with SEN.
- A genuine passion for specialist education.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- The ability to adapt teaching to individual needs.
- Good attention to detail when assessing and tracking progress.
- The confidence and leadership skills to effectively support other adults in the classroom.
- Experience of sensory-led curriculums or working within a specialist SEN setting would be highly beneficial.
