Are you passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning? Do you have personal or professional experience working with individuals who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are seeking resilient, compassionate and proactive Behaviour Mentors to work within SEMH schools and specialist provisions across the Preston area. This rewarding role involves supporting primary and secondary-aged pupils who require additional behavioural, emotional and social support to help them achieve both inside and outside the classroom.

The Role

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and personal development.
  • Supporting pupils to regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour positively.
  • Promoting a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment.
  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams to implement behaviour support strategies.
  • Acting as a positive role model and helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence.

What We're Looking For

  • Personal or professional experience supporting children, young people or adults with SEMH or additional behavioural needs.
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach to challenging situations.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to remain positive, adaptable and solution-focused.
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their potential.

Essential Requirements

  • An Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service (UDS), or willingness to apply and pay for a new Enhanced DBS.
  • A minimum of two years' employment references.
  • The right to work in the UK.

What We Offer

  • £109.85 per day.
  • Term-time only working pattern.
  • Consistent Monday to Friday hours (8:30am-3:30pm).

  • All applications are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, professional reference checks, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) in line with our stringent safeguarding policy.

  • You must be willing to attend a registration interview.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 14.3% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
