Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a Local Authority on the South Coast to appoint an Interim Finance Business Partner to support the Growth and Prosperity Directorate, with a particular focus on capital programme monitoring and reporting. This is a key business-partnering role, sitting within a high-profile growth and regeneration directorate and reporting directly to the Strategic Finance Business Partner. The contract is expected to be for six months initially.
The Role
The successful candidate will act as the lead finance business partner for capital activity within the Growth and Prosperity Directorate, providing financial oversight, challenge and support across a diverse portfolio of capital programmes. Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating and maintaining capital programme monitoring for the Directorate
- Producing and presenting capital financial reports to senior stakeholders
- Working closely with Corporate Finance to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Providing financial support and challenge to Project Managers, Budget Managers and Directors
- Supporting forecasting, profiling and variance analysis across capital schemes
- Ensuring capital spend is appropriately recorded, monitored and controlled
What's on Offer
- Day rate: £400 - £500 per day (negotiable depending on experience)
- Contract length: 6 months initially (with potential extension)
- Working pattern: Hybrid - South Coast (Hampshire)
- Start: ASAP / subject to notice
About You
You will ideally have:
- Strong experience as a Finance Business Partner within a Local Authority
- Demonstrable experience supporting capital programmes or capital budgets
- The ability to work effectively with non-finance stakeholders at all levels
- Experience working alongside Corporate Finance on monitoring and reporting
- A recognised accounting qualification (CIPFA / ACCA / CIMA / ACA) or equivalent experience
