Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a Local Authority Pension Fund to appoint an Interim Pensions Accounting and Investment Manager to support the delivery of a high-quality LGPS pensions service. This is a senior interim assignment focused on pension fund accounting, investment governance, statutory reporting, stewardship, and relationship management with external advisers, fund managers and key stakeholders.

- Rate: £40 - £52 per hour (Negotiable)
- Contract length: 6 months+ initially

The Role
The successful candidate will provide professional support across the Pension Fund's accounting, investment and governance arrangements, ensuring appropriate systems, controls and processes are in place.
Key responsibilities:
- Managing pension fund and asset accounting processes, including daily, monthly and year-end reconciliations.
- Ensuring pension contributions are received, invoices are raised and paid, and statutory pension fund accounts are completed by the required deadline.
- Supporting the implementation of the Investment Strategy Statement alongside the LGPS pool, advisers and investment managers.
- Managing relationships with investment managers, investment consultants, custodians, auditors and advisers.
- Preparing reports and providing advice to Pension Committee and Board members.
- Communicating complex accounting and investment information to senior officers, Members, external providers and other stakeholders.
About You
You will ideally have:
- Qualified accountant status, or a relevant pensions/investment qualification.
- Strong knowledge of local government pension schemes and defined benefit pension arrangements.
- Experience of pension fund accounting, investment governance, statutory reporting or pensions finance.
- Senior management experience within pensions, finance, investments or a complex public sector environment.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including working with Committees, Boards, advisers, auditors and external providers.
- Experience managing people, services, projects or external relationships.
- The ability to interpret and explain complex pensions, accounting and investment information clearly.
- LGPS experience would be highly desirable.
