Learning Support Assistant - Specialist Provisions Location: Ormskirk and surrounding areas Pay: £109.85 per day Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am - 3:30pm Contract: Full-time, term-time only Start Date: Immediate starts available About the Role We are currently recruiting dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to work within specialist educational provisions across Ormskirk and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience supporting children and young people with SEND, SEMH, behavioural, communication or complex additional needs. You will work closely with teaching staff and other professionals to provide tailored support to pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning and develop their confidence, independence and social skills. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with additional needs. Support pupils with their learning, communication, emotional wellbeing and social development. Assist pupils with managing emotions, behaviour and challenging situations. Build positive, trusting relationships and act as a consistent and supportive role model. Support pupils to develop confidence, independence and resilience. Follow individual learning, support and behaviour plans. Assist teachers with classroom activities and learning tasks. Encourage positive engagement and help remove barriers to learning. Support pupils during classroom activities, break times and wider school activities where required. Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals to meet individual pupil needs. Help maintain a safe, structured and inclusive learning environment. Promote positive behaviour and appropriate social interaction. Maintain professional boundaries, safeguarding standards and confidentiality. Essential Requirements Previous personal or professional experience supporting children, young people or adults with additional needs. Experience supporting individuals with SEND, SEMH, behavioural or complex needs is highly desirable. A patient, caring, resilient and adaptable approach. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. The ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting challenging behaviour. An Enhanced DBS check for the Children's Workforce, either already in place and registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply and pay for one and register it on the Update Service. A minimum of 24 months of employment references, with no large or unexplained gaps in employment history. The ability to commit to full-time, Monday to Friday, term-time-only work.
