We are currently seeking a caring and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Newcastle upon Tyne, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to pupils who require consistent, patient, and tailored support within a structured and nurturing environment.
The role:
- Supporting pupils with ASC and SLD on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of personalised learning activities
- Supporting communication, sensory needs, and emotional regulation
- Promoting independence, engagement, and positive behaviour
- Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and wider support staff
The ideal candidate:
- Has experience working with SEN, ASC, and/or SLD (school or care setting desirable)
- Is patient, resilient, and passionate about supporting children with additional needs
- Demonstrates a calm and consistent approach to behaviour and learning
- Is a strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Relevant SEN qualifications or training are desirable but not essential
