We are looking for a compassionate and adaptable Supply Teaching Assistant with experience in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to support a range of primary schools across Northumberland. This flexible role offers the opportunity to work across different settings, providing vital support to pupils with diverse learning needs. You will play a key role in helping students access the curriculum, build confidence, and achieve their individual goals in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEND
  • Assist teachers in delivering tailored learning activities
  • Support pupils with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs
  • Implement Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and individual support strategies
  • Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Adapt quickly to different classroom environments and school settings
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning experience for all pupils

About You

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEND training) are desirable but not essential
