Interim Chartered Building Surveyor (Acquisition and Refurb Programme)

Location: Greater Manchester, hybrid

Rate: £400-450 per day

Contract: 3-6 months

Spencer Clarke Group have an opportunity for an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor to support a major public-sector programme focused on identifying, acquiring, and refurbishing residential properties to improve outcomes for children and young people in residential care.

You will lead activity across pre-acquisition, due diligence, approvals, acquisition and post-acquisition delivery, and then take ownership of refurbishment delivery, including project management and contract administration.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and assessing acquisition opportunities and maintaining a live tracker of prospects
  • Coordinating desktop reviews, shortlisting, and arranging stakeholder viewings
  • Managing RICS Level 3 surveys and valuations, plus legal due diligence and conveyancing through to completion
  • Preparing appraisal and board-level approval documentation
  • Managing consultants through measured surveys, concept design, planning and building regulations
  • Producing / signing off Descriptions of Works, tender packs, and procurement documentation
  • Leading refurbishment delivery: programme, cost control, risk, quality, reporting
  • Contract administration duties (including variations, valuations, interim payments, practical completion)
  • Chairing progress meetings and maintaining accurate project records

About You

  • Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) (or equivalent demonstrable senior experience)
  • Strong project management and contract administration capability (ideally JCT experience)
  • Comfortable with surveys, valuations, due diligence and stakeholder reporting/approvals
  • Confident operating in a public-sector environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Able to work on-site in Greater Manchester as required
