Spencer Clarke Group are supporting a large public sector organisation in London to appoint an Interim Lead Landlord and Tenant (L&T) Estates Surveyor. This is a senior, commercially focused role, leading on lease events, negotiations and revenue optimisation across a diverse property portfolio.
You will take ownership of a rolling programme of L&T casework, ensuring matters are progressed promptly and in line with professional best practice, while balancing commercial outcomes with stakeholder needs.
Responsibilities include:
- Leading delivery of L&T casework including rent reviews, lease renewals, lease re-gears and other lease events
- Driving revenue growth and protecting long-term value across the investment and operational portfolios
- Preparing and maintaining schedules of comparable evidence to support negotiations
- Conducting negotiations with tenants, owners and professional representatives
- Instructing and overseeing legal documentation (leases, renewal documents, rent review memorandums, payment schedules as required)
- Providing clear updates and advice to key stakeholders, including written briefings and reports
- Representing the organisation in dispute resolution settings where required (tribunal, arbitration, court, expert witness work as applicable)
- Ensuring records and case updates are accurately maintained for the property/asset management system
- Providing technical guidance and oversight to surveying colleagues, helping to prioritise workloads and maintain performance
About you:
- Strong L&T background with proven success handling complex lease events end to end
- Local authority or similarly complex public sector estate experience is highly beneficial
- Confident negotiator with strong written reporting skills and stakeholder management
- Ideally RICS qualified (or working towards), with evidence of continued professional development
- Full UK driving licence and ability to attend site inspections
