Spencer Clarke Group are recruiting for an Interim HIA Surveyor to support a busy public sector housing service delivering disability adaptations, home improvements and associated repairs. This is a hands-on surveying role with a strong customer focus, working with vulnerable residents and multiple partner agencies.

You will oversee the surveying function across a small technical team, ensuring works are delivered on time, to budget, and in line with current legislation and health and safety expectations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing delivery of disability adaptations (including level access showers, stairlifts, ramps, lifts)
  • Managing pre, mid and post inspections to assure quality and programme compliance
  • Diagnosing and specifying remedial works for damp, condensation and disrepair (HHSRS-led)
  • Managing responsive repairs to existing adaptations, including leak detection
  • Supervising Surveyors and Trainee/Apprentice Surveyors, allocating work and supporting development
  • Supporting contractor performance, quality assurance and contract compliance
  • Ensuring health and safety compliance across residents, staff and contractors
  • Handling complaints and defects thoroughly, with clear documentation and resident communication

About you:

  • Strong experience delivering adaptations and home improvements in residential settings
  • Confident specifying works and diagnosing defects, with solid legislation awareness (including Building Safety Act 2022, Building Regs)
  • Good working knowledge of HHSRS and disrepair-related inspection/reporting
  • Comfortable working with vulnerable residents and arranging reasonable adjustments
  • Contract/contractor management experience, quality assurance mindset
  • Relevant qualification (Building Surveying or similar), plus ongoing CPD (professional membership desirable)
