Spencer Clarke Group are recruiting for an experienced Clerk of Works to support a social housing planned maintenance function, with a particular focus on damp and mould related works and wider building safety items.

You will carry out detailed site inspections, provide clear quality assurance feedback to contractors and internal stakeholders, and help ensure works are completed to the required standard, specification and programme.

Responsibilities include:

  • Carry out detailed inspections of social housing homes and communal areas
  • Assess quality, standard and completion of recently delivered major works
  • Identify issues including damp and mould, fire safety and structural concerns
  • Recommend future planned maintenance and major works requirements
  • Liaise with contractors to drive remedials and uphold quality standards
  • Monitor workmanship and materials for compliance with specification
  • Sign off completed works and maintain robust inspection documentation
  • Provide Clerk of Works advice to the Planned Maintenance team

About you:

  • Proven experience as a Clerk of Works, Building Inspector or Surveyor within housing or construction
  • Strong knowledge of building construction, repairs and maintenance
  • Experience in social housing and local authority environments
  • Understanding of fire safety, damp and mould, and building safety requirements
  • Confident challenging contractors and documenting outcomes clearly
  • Strong stakeholder management and reporting skills
