We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 9 autistic pupil in a supportive secondary school setting in Leyland. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the student access learning, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 9 student with Autism
- Support engagement with lessons and classroom activities
- Implement strategies to manage communication, sensory, and emotional needs
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and parents/carers
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is essential
- Experience supporting autistic students is highly desirable
- Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- Relevant qualifications are advantageous but not essential
