We are currently seeking an experienced and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 9 autistic pupil in a supportive secondary school setting in Leyland. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping the student access learning, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially within the classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 9 student with Autism
  • Support engagement with lessons and classroom activities
  • Implement strategies to manage communication, sensory, and emotional needs
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and parents/carers
  • Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND is essential
  • Experience supporting autistic students is highly desirable
  • Calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Relevant qualifications are advantageous but not essential
