We are recruiting experienced SEND Outreach Tutors to provide one-to-one, in-person tuition across Gateshead and Newcastle for learners referred by local authorities and schools. You'll support children and young people who are out of education or require additional support due to SEND, SEMH needs or an EHCP. Tuition takes place in the learner's home or a suitable community venue, such as a library.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored 1:1 tuition that meets each learner's individual needs.
- Adapt teaching methods to support learners with SEND, SEMH and other additional needs.
- Plan engaging lessons that promote academic progress and build confidence.
- Monitor progress and maintain accurate session records.
- Work professionally with families, schools and local authority teams.
Requirements
- Experience teaching or tutoring learners with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is essential.
- Strong behaviour management and the ability to build positive relationships.
- QTS is desirable but not essential for candidates with relevant tutoring or teaching experience.
- Ability to travel across Gateshead and Newcastle for in-person tuition.
