Overview of the role The role involves deputizing for the Area Planning Manager, overseeing a team of 5-6 staff, and managing development tasks such as processing applications, appeals, and addressing enquiries or complaints. Summary of Responsibilities and Duties Strategic Case Management: Lead major planning cases from pre-application advice to post-permission stages, ensuring high-quality, sustainable outcomes. Decision-Making and Reporting: Prepare and review clear, accurate reports and make informed decisions in line with the Development Plan, policy, and legislation. Public Engagement and Representation: Present complex information effectively to diverse audiences, including Planning Committees and public inquiries. Negotiation and Stakeholder Collaboration: Secure planning obligations (s.106), manage CIL contributions, and build strong relationships with developers, Members, and external bodies. Team Leadership and Development: Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management, deputising for the Area Planning Manager when required.
