We are looking for a Social Care Officer to support one of our Local Authority clients within their Intake Team. This role involves working directly with children, young people, and families to complete assessments, support safeguarding activity, and contribute to high-quality social care practice. You will play a key part in early assessment, direct work, and multi-agency collaboration to ensure children remain safe, supported, and able to thrive. You will provide direct assessment and care/support plans under the Social Services Well-Being (Wales) act. You will be responsible for managing your own caseload in line with the services expectations and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake direct work with children, young people and families.
  • Contribute to Child Protection processes under supervision.
  • Supervise family contact sessions where appropriate.
  • Attend meetings and produce reports including reviews and case discussions.
  • Maintain accurate records using CCIS and departmental systems.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with vulnerable children and families within social care or related settings.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation including Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
  • Strong communication and assessment skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external professionals.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to complete compliance documents.

Contract Length: 3 months with a view to extend to an ongoing contract.

Pay Rate: £14-£18

Working pattern: 37 hours per week.
