We are looking for a confident, adaptable, and compassionate General Cover Teacher to join a specialist setting based in Carlisle. As a General Cover Teacher, you will play a key role in maintaining a calm, structured, and supportive environment that enables pupils to engage and succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, pre-prepared lessons across different subjects and key stages
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively using positive and trauma-informed approaches
- Support pupils with SEMH needs to engage with learning and regulate their emotions
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs and learning styles
- Build positive, professional relationships with pupils and staff
- Follow school policies on safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion
- Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress and engagement
About You
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or has relevant teaching experience
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs (preferred)
- Is calm, resilient, and able to think on their feet
- Has strong behaviour management skills and a consistent approach
- Demonstrates empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to supporting vulnerable learners
- Is flexible and confident delivering a range of subjects
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or the willingness to obtain one
