We are currently recruiting a number of

Social Work Assistants to join Children's Services across various teams within Cardiff.

You will work alongside Social Workers, the Team Manager and Principal Social Worker to support the delivery of high quality services to children, young people and families.

This role involves holding a small caseload appropriate to the team, supporting assessments, contributing to care planning, and helping ensure children receive the right support at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Social Workers with day-to-day casework and direct work with children and families.
  • Hold a small caseload where appropriate to the team's needs.
  • Assist with assessments, visits, reports and multi-agency work.
  • Help ensure children's plans are progressed in a timely and child-centred way.
  • Work collaboratively within an established and supportive team environment.

Key Requirements

  • Experience working with children, young people or families in a professional or support based setting.
  • Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with children and families.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Confidence in supporting assessments, recording information and working within clear processes.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-agency team.
  • A child-centred approach and commitment to safeguarding.
  • Flexibility, reliability and a willingness to learn and develop within the role.
  • Contract Length

: 3-6 months with a view to extend to an ongoing contract.
