We are recruiting a Temporary Registered Manager on behalf of an established Children's Residential Service in the Cardiff area. The successful candidate will oversee a short-term assessment home supporting vulnerable children and young people, ensuring high-quality, trauma-informed care and full compliance with regulatory standards.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the residential home, ensuring children and young people receive safe, supportive, and trauma-informed care.
  • Work closely with staff, social workers, health professionals, and other stakeholders to support assessment placements and achieve positive outcomes for young people.
  • Play a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance, driving service improvements, and creating a positive and nurturing environment for both residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the residential service, providing strong operational management and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance, ensuring the home meets all standards under The Regulated Services Regulations.
  • Oversee assessment placements, supporting young people for up to 12 weeks while identifying suitable long-term pathways.
  • Manage multidisciplinary collaboration, working closely with social workers, health teams, and education professionals.
  • Drive service development, leading improvements, implementing change, and embedding trauma-informed practice.
  • Provide on-call support as part of the management rota to ensure consistent leadership outside office hours.

Key Requirements

  • Level 5 Leadership Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People's Registered Management).
  • Registration with Social Care Wales.
  • Significant experience managing residential childcare services.
  • Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, and mediation skills.
  • Proven ability to lead change and drive service improvement.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

Contract Type: Temporary (3-6 months with expectation of an extension)

Pay Rate: £22.00

Working pattern: 37 hours per week, onsite.
