Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEN Commissioning Officer to support a local authority in South West England in planning, obtaining and monitoring high-quality services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Essential Requirements:

  • Secure understanding of SEND legislation, including The Children and Families Act 2014 and The SEND Code of Practice (2015).
  • Proven experience of working within SEND for a Local Authority.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and prioritise competing demands.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide helpful advice and guidance to parents during each stage of the statutory process.
  • Liaise with Headteachers and SEN Coordinators to resolve issues and ensure that providers meet each child's specialist SEND needs.
  • Prepare and present cases for meetings and be responsible for the implementation of follow-up actions.

Skills required:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with a good eye for detail.
  • Able to work well collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and young people with SEND.
