About the Role

As an Unqualified Primary Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support pupils throughout the school day. You'll help create a positive and engaging learning environment, provide support to individual pupils and small groups, and assist with day-to-day classroom activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in delivering lessons across the primary curriculum.
  • Work with pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Encourage pupil engagement, participation, and confidence in learning.
  • Assist with classroom preparation and learning resources.
  • Support pupils with varying learning abilities and needs.
  • Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Promote positive behaviour and follow school policies and procedures.
  • Support pupils during breaktimes, educational activities, and school events where required.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
  • A genuine interest in education and supporting children's development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A positive, proactive, and flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
  • Relevant childcare, youth work, coaching, mentoring, or volunteer experience would be advantageous.
