About the Role

Spencer Clarke Group is working closely with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Birkenhead who are seeking a SEND Teaching Assistant to support a student on a 1:1 basis, specialising in trauma. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience supporting young people - whether in education, youth work, care, coaching, or similar environments - who are looking to gain hands-on classroom experience within SEND and progress their career in education. Formal qualifications are not required, though relevant experience or training is welcomed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support specialising in trauma.
  • Support pupils with focus, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning.
  • Work under the guidance of teachers and SEN staff to implement support strategies and individual plans.
  • Assist in creating a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction.
  • Support students both in and out of the classroom where required.
