We are working with a number of primary schools in Northumberland who are looking for caring, reliable and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils with special educational needs. You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual goals. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech and language needs)
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development
  • Adapt classroom materials and activities to meet individual needs
  • Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, professionals, and parents/carers where appropriate

Requirements

  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred)
  • Understanding of a range of additional needs and support strategies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
