We are working with a number of primary schools in Northumberland who are looking for caring, reliable and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to support pupils with special educational needs. You will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve their individual goals. This is a highly rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN (e.g. autism, ADHD, speech and language needs)
- Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development
- Adapt classroom materials and activities to meet individual needs
- Promote a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, professionals, and parents/carers where appropriate
Requirements
- An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (preferred)
- Understanding of a range of additional needs and support strategies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and resilience
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable but not essential
