ASC / Education Solicitor Rate: £50-£60 per hour – Negotiable DOE Contract Length: 3-6-month initial contract Southwest Local Authority Remote Working We are seeking a committed and experienced Solicitor to join a dynamic legal services team at a Southwest based local authority. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to impactful legal work that supports council services, improves outcomes for communities, and enhances the delivery of high-quality public services. Key Responsibilities Ensure the effective delivery of legal advice on children\’s social care, including Court of Protection cases, education law and adult social care law. Manage a mixed case load of Court of Protection cases; welfare application, section 21A appeals and applications under the Re X process. Provide advice on SEND, school admission, school attendance and other education related queries, such as refusal of home to school transport and school admission appeals. Represent the council in tribunals, inquiries, and court proceedings. Key Requirements Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FCILEX with a current practising certificate. Sound understanding of adult and children\’s social care law, Court of Protection law and education law. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective IT skills. Confidence dealing with sensitive and complex issues, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Advocate on behalf of the council when required, in-person and remotely.
