Location: Cheshire West & Chester - including Chester, Northwich, Winsford, Ellesmere Port, Frodsham, Helsby and nearby areas

About the Role

We are looking for committed and experienced Alternative Provision Tutors to deliver personalised, high-quality tuition to students across the Cheshire West and Chester local authority. You will work with learners who require additional support outside mainstream classroom environments, collaborating closely with local schools, the local authority, and families. This role suits someone passionate about helping young people re-engage with learning, develop confidence, and make strong academic progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver tailored 1:1 or small-group tuition in line with individual learning needs and education plans.
  • Support students who may have SEND, SEMH needs, medical barriers to attendance, or who are disengaged from education.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with schools, parents/carers, and local authority teams.
  • Record student progress and produce clear, regular reports.
  • Uphold safeguarding responsibilities and ensure student wellbeing at all times.
  • Deliver tuition within school hours (typically 9am-3pm).

Requirements

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service - essential
  • Teaching experience (QTS/QTLS, or strong tutoring background)
  • Excellent behaviour management and rapport-building skills
  • Confident working independently and adapting approaches to meet varied learner needs
  • Access to reliable transport to travel across Cheshire West & Chester
