We are seeking an experienced Portfolio Programme Project Officer to work on behalf of a Local authority based in the Bristol area.

Contract: 6 Month agency contract with a view to being extended on an ongoing basis.

Full Time Role: 37 hours per week.

Location: Bristol, BS1.

Rate of Pay: £304 per day. (Negotiable)

Required to support management of the Bristol Education Vision project aiming to deliver an inclusive strategy for Bristol in collaboration with schools, trusts, colleges and wider employers on the following themes: Bristol Place/locality approach, targeted support, Bristol Teacher, Bristol Leader, Bristol School, Bristol Pupil.

About you: Working at the heart of a portfolio, programme or project, the PO provides principal support to the Portfolio/Programme/Project Manager, deputising when necessary, to enable successful delivery of the associated objectives. An active participant and contributor to the team, the PO will operate as the 'information hub' in a fast-paced change environment. An effective communicator able to liaise with numerous stakeholders and build effective working relationships, the PO will have the ability to apply judgement and experience, to decide the best course of action; this includes the confidence to proactively tackle issues as they arise.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide the first point of contact for portfolio/programme/project stakeholders offering day-to-day issue resolution, escalating to an appropriate manager as required.
  • Coordinate the portfolio/programme/project reporting process, collating data/information from numerous sources and preparing monthly Highlight Reports (and other key reporting documents as required).
  • Oversee delivery of specific/discreet work packages and/or projects, monitoring budgets for these areas of responsibility.
  • Undertake ad-hoc portfolio/programme/project management duties as required, including deputising as and when necessary.
  • Manage portfolio/programme/project governance through coordination and administration of the Board (and other associated decision-making bodies) meetings - including overseeing resultant action management/delivery.
  • Provide input into day to day work through the collation of background research information from a variety of sources - including facilitating workshops to gather information and then consolidating the outputs into a suitable format.
  • Undertake quality assurance activities, reviewing key programme/project documentation and ensuring compliance with the Councils programme and project management processes and standards.

Experience Needed:

  • Portfolio/ Programme / Project Management experience.
  • Local Authority / Public Sector experience.
