SEND & SEMH Outreach Tutor - Stockton-on-Tees

£30-£33 per hour | 1:1 Tuition | Flexible Hours
We are looking for experienced SEND & SEMH Tutors to provide 1:1 educational support to children and young people in Stockton-on-Tees.
Many learners have EHCPs and a range of SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs. Sessions may take place in the learner's home or a suitable public setting such as a library, depending on the individual learner.
This is a specialist outreach role, so previous UK teaching experience and experience working with SEND/SEMH learners is essential.
The Role
You will:
- Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition tailored to individual needs
- Support learners with SEND, SEMH and EHCPs
- Adapt teaching to different abilities, behaviours and barriers to learning
- Build positive relationships and encourage engagement
- Work towards agreed educational targets and outcomes
- Maintain clear session records and provide feedback
- Work professionally with parents/carers and Local Authority professionals
- Support learners who may be out of school, experiencing anxiety, school refusal or other barriers to education
Essential Requirements
- Previous UK teaching experience - essential
- Experience working with SEND and/or SEMH learners
- Understanding of EHCPs and individualised education
- Strong safeguarding awareness
- Ability to work independently in home and community settings
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- DBS registered xgikmsk on the Update Service - essential
- Right to work in the UK
- Ability to travel to assignments in Stockton-on-Tees
Experience in alternative provision, outreach education, school refusal, behavioural support or Local Authority work is highly desirable.
