A leading international real estate consultancy seeks to appoint a Hotel Rating Surveyor / Associate to join its growing Hotels Rating team in the City of London. This is an excellent opportunity for an MRICS-qualified rating professional looking to take the next step in their career within a highly regarded specialist team, working with an impressive portfolio of UK and international hotel operators.
The Hotels Rating team advises some of the industry's most recognised hotel groups and owners, providing specialist business rates, rating valuation, consultancy and transactional advice across a diverse UK hotel portfolio. As the business continues to grow, the successful candidate will join a team of established hotel rating specialists and work closely with the wider Hotels, Leisure and Operational Real Estate teams. You will gain exposure to a fascinating range of hotel assets, work directly with senior stakeholders and clients, and play a key role in delivering commercially focused advice.
What You'll Be Doing
- Advising hotel owners and operators on rating and business rates matters, including trade and trading-profile valuations.
- Preparing and pursuing Check, Challenge, Appeal cases and identifying opportunities to reduce clients' liabilities.
- Advising on Section 44A opportunities and material changes in circumstances.
- Developing trusted relationships with clients, Valuation Officers and Local Authorities.
- Preparing high-quality reports, budgets, valuations and client advice.
- Attending client meetings and taking responsibility for selected client instructions.
- Carrying out hotel inspections across the UK.
- Supporting and mentoring junior team members.
- Identifying and developing new business opportunities across Hotels, Leisure and the wider real estate platform.
- Representing the business at relevant industry events and conferences.
The Person
We are looking for an ambitious MRICS-qualified rating professional with recent experience in business rates and rating valuation. You will ideally bring:
- Proven rating/business rates experience at Surveyor through to Senior Associate level.
- Hotel sector experience is desirable, but not essential – candidates from other rating sectors with a genuine interest in hotels will be considered.
- Strong analytical, numerical and commercial skills.
- Excellent client management and communication abilities.
- A track record of developing relationships and contributing to new business.
- The confidence to deal effectively with clients, Local Authorities and Valuation Officers.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and genuine commercial curiosity.
- Strong organisation and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Full UK driving licence.
