The job involves being responsible for the overall performance of an allocated project, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations while meeting time, cost, and quality objectives. This role includes planning, supervising, and managing the construction project efficiently within an Equal, Diverse, and Inclusive (EDI) environment, with accountability for programme scheduling, quality, environmental requirements, and health and safety.
The main tasks and responsibilities include:
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive project plans, including Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans, Environmental Plans, Site Waste Management Plans (SWMP), Quality Plans, and Procurement Schedules.
- Ensure health, safety, quality, and welfare standards are actively monitored and maintained, with support from the H&S Manager.
- Produce site layout plans and manage logistical requirements from planning to project completion.
- Maintain accurate project information, records, and documentation in systems such as iProcure and Fieldwire.
- Lead and participate in tender interviews, Pre-Let Package meetings, Design Development meetings, coordination meetings, and Project Progress Meetings, including minute-taking and action tracking.
- Manage relationships with subcontractors, clients, and the design team to ensure smooth project delivery and compliance with contract requirements.
- Oversee project programmes, schedules, resources, and team responsibilities, ensuring timely allocation and competent staffing.
- Monitor and address training needs of the Project Delivery Team to maintain relevant competence.
- Ensure adherence to specifications, drawings, industry standards, and project deliverables, including manufacturer guarantees on D&B projects.
- Conduct risk assessments, report significant operational and commercial risks, and support the enhancement of commercial value.
- Assist with contractual notices, safety audits, stand downs, and post‑completion processes.
- Ensure effective documentation of project progress, delays, disruptions, best practices, and lessons learned.
- Drive projects to completion within cost, time, and quality standards, aiming for zero defects.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role you will bring your enthusiasm and determination as well as:
- Minimum of 10+ years’ industry experience, with a background in refurbishment and new build projects, ideally with a recognised regional or national contractor.
- Based in the Greater / East Manchester area, with the ability to work on projects across the North West.
- Proven experience managing projects up to £10m in value, preferably within complex environments.
- Experience within MOD or airport projects is desirable, but not essential.
- Relevant construction, design, or technical qualification (NVQ Level 6 or 7 preferred, but not essential).
