Established in 1995, Speller Metcalfe has become one of the UK’s leading regional contractors, predominantly working across the Midlands and South West regions. We deliver a range of public and private sector projects from £250k up to £30 million in fields including education, healthcare, residential, and leisure.
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial support to projects to ensure they are procured and delivered to required outcomes. The main tasks and responsibilities include:
- Liaising with the team to place sub-contractor trade orders with comprehensive records of contractual agreements, ensuring the main contract risks are passed on;
- Assisting in the preparation of the PEP and continual review of the document;
- Assisting the project commercial lead to ensure all sub-contractor payments are made in a timely manner and in accordance with order agreements, in accordance with the Construction Act;
- Ensuring all notices to sub-contractors are issued in the required time frames;
- Assisting in the preparation of cost value reports and cost forecasts for monthly review;
- Ensuring that all contractual correspondence is produced in an acceptable format and in a timely manner;
- Preparing cost value reports and cost forecasts for monthly review with the commercial manager and leadership teams;
- Closely monitoring and evaluating the value of works packages through physical re-measure of works carried out on site;
- Managing and minimising non-recoverable costs on a project;
- Ensuring all valuations are submitted and received in accordance with agreed valuation schedules;
- Reviewing and ensuring all contract final accounts are submitted and agreed in a timely manner;
- Identifying disputes in a timely manner to the commercial lead;
- Performing other duties from time to time, outside the normal sphere of work as may reasonably be requested.
