We are currently looking for a Low Level Access Engineer to join our Newport team. This is a key role within our operations, responsible for ensuring all low-level access equipment is safe, compliant and ready for hire. You will be working with equipment that enables customers to work safely at height, such as podiums, towers, ladders, folding platforms and other access products. You will play a vital part in protecting customer safety and supporting operational efficiency by ensuring only fully compliant, well-maintained equipment leaves the depot.

Your Day-to-day Will Include:

  • Inspecting, testing, servicing and repairing low-level access equipment in line with LOLER, PUWER and Speedy standards.
  • Carrying out pre-hire and post-hire checks to ensure all equipment is safe and fit for purpose.
  • Diagnosing faults and completing mechanical repairs where required.
  • Accurately completing service and inspection records using our internal systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Ensuring equipment is prioritised effectively to support depot operations and customer demand.
  • Maintaining excellent health and safety standards within the workshop and on site.
  • Supporting asset availability by working closely with depot and operations teams.
  • Occasionally attending customer sites to carry out inspections, breakdowns or servicing if required.
  • Delivering excellent customer service and representing Speedy in a professional manner at all times.
  • Actively supporting Speedy’s ESG Strategy - Decade to Deliver through safe, sustainable and responsible working practices.

What You’ll Need:

  • Previous engineering or workshop experience, ideally within access, lifting, mechanical or hire equipment environments.
  • Good understanding of health and safety standards and compliance.
  • Strong attention to detail and a safety-first mindset.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A strong work ethic and positive, proactive approach.
  • The ability to think on your feet and problem-solve effectively.
