We are currently looking for a Mobile Engineer to join our dedicated field-based engineering team, supporting customers across the Kent and Sussex area. This is a vital role within our business, helping to ensure our equipment remains safe, reliable, and ready for hire.
Working directly at customer sites, you will be responsible for maintaining service schedules, carrying out repairs, and responding quickly when equipment breaks down. You will be a trusted ambassador for Speedy, delivering excellent service and building strong relationships with our customers.
About the Role
As a Mobile Engineer, you will play a key part in keeping our customers operating safely and efficiently. No two days are the same, and you will enjoy a varied role combining technical expertise, problem-solving, and customer engagement. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Attending customer sites to service, maintain, and repair hire equipment
- Ensuring all service and inspection schedules are kept up to date
- Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults efficiently
- Responding promptly to breakdowns and urgent customer requirements
- Completing job reports and updating systems accurately
- Communicating clearly with customers, depot teams, and colleagues
- Working independently while also contributing as part of a wider team
- Supporting your business unit in delivering Speedys ESG Strategy Decade to Deliver
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is reliable, customer-focused, and passionate about engineering. You will take pride in your work and enjoy being part of a supportive, professional team. You will ideally have:
- A full UK driving licence
- Previous mechanical engineering experience (essential), ideally within the hire industry or a similar engineering environment
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- The ability to work independently, manage your workload, and remain calm under pressure
- A positive, flexible, and team-oriented approach
