We are now looking for an Entry Level Cable Locator Technician to join our friendly team in Tamworth. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and is looking to start or develop a career in cable location equipment preparation. No extensive experience is needed - we are looking for the right attitude and a willingness to learn, as full training will be provided.
This role is ideal if you enjoy working with your hands, being part of a team, and taking pride in getting things ready to a high standard for customers.
About the roleWorking alongside experienced colleagues and the Depot Manager, you will help prepare and maintain cable location equipment so it is safe, reliable and ready for hire. You will play an important part in making sure our customers receive equipment that is in great condition and ready to use.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Assisting with the preparation, checking and basic testing of cable location equipment
- Cleaning, repairing and inspecting cable location equipment and making it ready for rehire
- Carrying out simple inspections to spot damage or wear
- Supporting with basic repairs and reporting any faults to senior engineers
- Labelling and organising equipment so it is easy to locate and dispatch
- Completing simple paperwork and updating records accurately
- Working as part of a supportive depot team to keep things running smoothly
- Keeping your work area clean, tidy and safe at all times
- Learning new skills and building your technical knowledge through on-the-job training
- A practical, hands-on approach and a willingness to learn
- An interest in working with cable location equipment or engineering environments
- Good attention to detail and pride in doing a job well
- A reliable team player with a positive attitude
- Basic IT skills for completing simple records
- A full UK driving licence is helpful but not essential
- No formal engineering experience is required for this role - we are looking for someone who is keen, dependable and ready to develop.
