Keep our engineering team moving.
At Speedy Freight, technology is at the heart of how we deliver for customers across the UK and Europe.
We're looking for a Scrum Master to help our engineering team deliver consistently, remove roadblocks, and keep our agile delivery running at its best.
This isn't a role where you'll simply run stand-ups and tick off ceremonies.
You'll work closely with our Head of Technology, Head of Product, and development team to keep sprints on track, improve delivery performance, and create an environment where great software gets built.
If you're passionate about agile delivery, enjoy coaching teams, and like solving problems before they become bigger issues, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll do...
- Lead all Scrum ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Keep sprint delivery on track by protecting the team from unnecessary interruptions and scope creep.
- Remove blockers quickly and escalat delivery risks before they impact deadlines.
- Ensure work entering a sprint is ready and completed work meets agreed standards.
- Maintain accurate sprint boards and delivery data within Azure Dev Ops.
- Track key engineering performance metrics, including DORA metrics, and support delivery reporting.
- Coach developers in agile best practice and help drive continuous improvement across the team.
- Work closely with Product and Technology leaders to ensure smooth sprint planning and delivery.
What you'll need...
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master within a commercial software development environment.
- Strong understanding of Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid agile delivery frameworks.
- Experience facilitating cross-functional engineering teams.
- Hands-on experience using Azure Dev Ops, Jira, or similar delivery management tools.
- Confidence coaching teams and improving agile ways of working.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Scrum Master certification (PSM, CSM, or equivalent) is desirable.
- Experience within logistics, freight, or a fast-paced technology business is a bonus.
- The skills that will help you succeed
- Strong facilitation and stakeholder management.
- Ability to identify and remove delivery blockers quickly.
- Data-driven approach to improving team performance.
- Calm, organised, and confident under pressure.
- Passion for building accountable, high-performing teams.
Why join us....
We're one of the UK's leading same-day logistics providers, with a growing network of over 60 locations supporting businesses across the UK and Europe.
Behind every successful delivery is technology that keeps our operation moving.
You'll join a collaborative team where you'll have the opportunity to shape how we deliver software, improve engineering performance, and make a genuine impact on the business.
If you're looking for a Scrum Master role where you can influence delivery, coach talented engineers, and help build better ways of working, we'd love to hear from you.

How to prepare for a job interview at Speedy Freight
✨Brush Up on Your Coding Skills
For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.
✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks
Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Speedy Freight uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.
✨Showcase Your Projects
Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.
✨Prepare for Behavioural Questions
While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
