Experienced Customs Declarant – Descartes e-Customs

Are you an experienced Customs Declarant with hands-on experience using Descartes e-Customs to submit UK CDS import declarations?
\n
\n
We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and take responsibility for preparing and submitting accurate import declarations.
\n
\n
The role
\n
You will be responsible for:
\n
Preparing and submitting UK CDS import declarations via Descartes e-Customs
\n
Checking invoices, packing lists, commodity codes, origin and customs values
\n
Calculating and checking duty and import VAT
\n
Processing PVA where applicable
\n
Dealing with rejected declarations and customs queries
\n
Liaising with HMRC, hauliers, freight forwarders and customers
\n
Handling amendments and post-clearance issues
\n
Maintaining accurate customs records and ensuring compliance
\n
\n
What we're looking for
\n
\n
Essentials:
\n
Previous hands-on experience as a Customs Declarant / Customs Clearance Operator / Customs Entry Clerk
\n
Experience preparing and submitting UK CDS import declarations
\n
Practical experience using Descartes e-Customs
\n
Good knowledge of customs procedures, commodity classification, valuation, origin, duty and VAT
\n
Excellent attention to detail
\n
Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
\n
Experience within a freight forwarding, customs brokerage, importing or logistics environment would be highly advantageous.
\n
\n
What we offer

💷 £35,000 basic salary

This is not a general administration role. We specifically want someone who has actually prepared and submitted customs declarations and is confident using Descartes e-Customs.
