Overview

We’re creating a next‑generation PC sim racing title built around three core principles:

  • Authentic driving physics
  • High visual immersion
  • High‑quality competitive multiplayer

Our first major milestone is a focused vertical slice — one car and one track — proving we can deliver all three pillars to a true sim‑grade level. We already operate a platform serving 250,000+ sim racers, giving us a strong base for testing, iteration, and early feedback.

The Role

This is a practical, build‑focused CTO position. Early on, you’ll act as the primary technical architect, making foundational decisions on engine selection, rendering, physics, and networking decisions. As the studio grows, the role can evolve based on your strengths. You’ll work closely with the CEO on technical choices that shape how we deliver on our three pillars.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Strategy & Architecture
    • Select the engine and toolchain best suited for advanced physics, modern rendering, and low‑latency multiplayer.
    • Define the core architecture connecting physics, FFB, rendering, and networking.
    • Make decisions that scale beyond the vertical slice.
    • Build or oversee core systems, including vehicle physics, tyre modelling, force feedback, race netcode, and performance‑critical rendering components.
    • Establish clean, extensible systems ready for future content.
  • Driving Feel & Physics
    • Guide the technical approach to car behaviour and responsiveness.
    • Collaborate with real‑world drivers to refine driving feel and force feedback.
  • Visual Quality & Immersion
    • Set and maintain the visual bar for the vertical slice.
    • Ensure realistic materials, lighting, and environments with stable high frame rates.
    • Work with external art partners to ensure assets meet required standards.
  • Multiplayer & Online Racing
    • Build stable, low‑latency netcode aligned with our existing matchmaking and competitive infrastructure.
    • Focus on fairness, performance, and input responsiveness.
  • Team Growth
    • Start within a small team (CTO + 1–2 engineers).
    • Help identify future hiring needs across physics, rendering, and engineering.
    • Coordinate with external content and art partners.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience
    • Ideally a Background in racing games or high‑fidelity real‑time simulation.
    • Understanding of the expectations of dedicated sim racing communities.
  • Technical Breadth
    • Comfortable working across physics, rendering, optimisation, and networking.
    • Able to balance realism, visual ambition, and performance.
  • Practical Mindset
    • Able to deliver high‑quality work within real constraints.
    • Knows when to push detail and when to simplify thoughtfully.
  • Leadership Style
    • Leads through hands‑on contribution and high standards.
    • Comfortable being deeply involved in technical delivery early on.

Practical Details

  • Platform: PC-only
  • Initial Scope: Single car + track vertical slice
  • Team: Small core engineering team with external art support
  • Equity: equity position

Why This Role Might Appeal

  • You’ll build on top of an active platform with a large, engaged sim racing audience.
  • You’ll shape the foundational tech of a future sim racing title.
  • The project is intentionally focused, aiming for quality over breadth.
