We are looking for a dedicated, flexible, and energetic speech language pathology assistant to complete a variety of tasks such as activities designed to develop pre-language and language skills, oral‑motor control for speech production, vocalization, and use of assistive technology devices for communication; works with students who have identified speech and language disorders as well as other disabilities; performs related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications And Skills
- Must have a current certification/registration as a Speech‑Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) issued by the North Carolina Speech‑Language Pathology Board
- Must be a graduate from an accredited Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, SLP‑A program, and/or hold a certificate from a speech language pathology assistant program
- Associate Degree in speech-language pathology or communication disorders or completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in speech‑language pathology or communication disorders
- Evidence of successful completion of the required Speech‑Language Assisting curriculum courses or course equivalents developed and approved by the N.C. Board of Examiners
- Assist speech‑language and hearing screenings (without interpretation)
- Follow documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising speech‑language pathologist
- Document patient/client performance and report this information to the supervision speech‑language pathologist
- Assist with internal documentation as directed by the speech‑language pathologist
- Assist with clerical duties such as preparing materials and scheduling activities as directed by the speech‑language pathologist
- Support the supervising speech‑language pathologist in research projects, in‑service training, and public relations programs
- Collect data for monitoring quality improvement
