Your profile

Role Brief

The Lead Salesforce Developer will serve as the senior technical authority and team lead for our Salesforce engineering team. This is a hands-on technical role for an individual with a deep, holistic understanding of the Salesforce ecosystem, its capabilities, and its limitations. You will be responsible for providing architectural guidance, driving technical best practices, and mentoring a team of developers. Beyond internal leadership, you will act as a key technical consultant, engaging in external-facing calls to assess project complexity, provide accurate estimations, and inform strategic decisions regarding effort and resource allocation. This role is crucial for ensuring our Salesforce solutions are scalable, maintainable, and perfectly aligned with our business objectives, while also fostering a clear growth path for junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Architecture:
    • Serve as the primary technical lead for a team of Salesforce engineers, providing architectural guidance and hands-on solutioning.
    • Establish and enforce development best practices, ensuring high standards for code quality, consistency, and performance.
    • Identify and articulate technical trade-offs of the platform, guiding the team and stakeholders toward robust and scalable solutions.
  • DevOps & Engineering Practices:
    • Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce, ensuring alignment with the processes of the wider engineering organization.
    • Define and govern key development processes, including branching strategies, code review standards, feature flag implementation, and architectural patterns.
    • Establish an efficient process for spinning up and managing Salesforce environments, providing clear definitions and purposes for each (e.g., Development, QA, UAT, Production).
  • Development Lifecycle & Governance:
    • Define and implement a structured feature development lifecycle, from request intake to deployment.
    • Establish clear processes and templates for documenting change requests, tracking status and ownership, and ensuring requirements are captured comprehensively using specification forms, diagrams, and mockups.
  • Team Development & Mentorship:
    • Mentor junior engineers, manage workload distribution, and act as the primary escalation point for technical challenges.
    • Design and implement clear processes and guidelines to support onboarding and career progression of developers within the team.
  • Project Scoping & Estimation:
    • Join pre-sales and project discovery calls with external stakeholders to rapidly assess technical requirements and project complexity.
    • Provide accurate and reliable estimations for development effort, timelines, and resource allocation.
    • Develop technical proposals and proofs-of-concept needed for informed project decision-making.
  • Solution Delivery & Integration:
    • Translate complex business requirements into elegant, effective, and scalable technical solutions on the Salesforce platform.
    • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and potential integrations with other systems to enhance the platform\’s value.
    • Work closely with solution architects, product managers, and other engineering teams to ensure technical alignment and delivery excellence.
  • Vendor & Quality Management:
    • Oversee the performance and delivery of outsourced resources and third-party vendors, ensuring all contributions adhere to our quality standards and best practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior or lead Salesforce Developer/Engineer role.
  • Deep expertise across the Salesforce platform (e.g., Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Health Cloud) and a strong understanding of its declarative and programmatic capabilities.
  • Demonstrable experience with Salesforce integrations (APIs, middleware) and modern DevOps practices (CI/CD, source control).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in a client-facing or consulting capacity, with a proven ability to scope projects and estimate effort accurately.
  • A passion for mentoring and a track record of helping junior developers grow their skills.
