Core Network Engineer – Portsmouth – Up to £55,000 If you’re passionate about networks and have the expertise to deliver reliable, high-performance connectivity we have a perfect role for you. Our client is seeking an experienced Core Network Engineer to join their team and support the design, deployment, and management of their full-fibre broadband network across the South of England. The Role Based in Portsmouth with travel to data centres and network sites as needed, you will: Configure and manage Layer 2 and 3 network elements (routers, switches, CGNAT, firewalls/VPNs, OLTs). Optimise traffic and manage peering and transit connections. Monitor and troubleshoot network performance, resolving issues effectively. Perform upgrades, security patching, and technology refreshes. Maintain network documentation and best practices. Collaborate with vendors and support teams. Requirements 5+ years of network engineering experience in an ISP environment. Strong Juniper expertise (command line essential); certifications such as JNCIS-SP or JNCIS-ENT preferred. Deep knowledge of IPv4/IPv6, EVPN, MPLS, VXLAN, CGNAT, DHCP, DNS, and GPON networks. Experience with FTTH platforms, particularly OLTs. Strong troubleshooting and network performance skills. Valid UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
