Head of Software Development for a fast-growing SaaS healthcare company. You will work with the CEO and senior leadership to take accountability for software development and platform delivery. This is a newly created, business-critical role to drive technology evolution, platform, process and delivery. This role involves evaluating the existing platform, technologies and team capabilities, making recommendations, and implementing them for the next stage of growth. You will inherit an established team of developers and will be responsible for organising, motivating, and elevating them by introducing discipline, delivery confidence, and clear outcomes. The business emphasises ethical, customer-centric solutions, with customer experience and patient welfare at the heart of the product. Experience with customer-driven SaaS in a fast-scaling environment is expected.
Location: Southampton, Hampshire (2-3 days onsite).
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the existing platform, technologies and team capabilities; make recommendations and implement them for the next stage of growth.
- Lead and elevate an established development team, introducing discipline, delivery confidence and clear outcomes.
- Partner with the CEO and senior leadership to align software delivery with business goals and regulatory requirements in healthcare/regulated environments.
- Drive modern development practices, delivery prioritisation, and business alignment; enable delivery by removing blockers.
- Maintain a strong focus on security, compliance, and governance in healthcare/regulated environments.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years' senior technology leadership, with a track record of delivering at scale in regulated SaaS technology.
- Proven success in scaling software development teams in high-demand, fast-growing environments.
- Direct experience in Consumer Products - Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) and/or B2C markets.
- A career within software development, from hands-on proficiency to senior leadership.
- Experience leading and elevating existing teams, instilling discipline and delivery confidence.
- Deep understanding of modern development practices, delivery, prioritisation, and business alignment.
- Hands-on leadership style: you clear blockers and enable delivery, not just write strategy.
- Strong grasp of security, compliance, and governance in healthcare/regulated environments.
- Commitment to onsite work in Southampton 2-3 days per week.
