This is a newly created role within a fast-growing UK organisation at a genuine point of change. The business is scaling quickly. What once worked through informal collaboration and tacit knowledge now needs clearer structure, shared ways of working, and better-supported delivery. This role exists to help make that transition stick.

You will join a young but expanding product function, reporting directly into the Head of Product, and work closely with teams across the business to establish consistent processes, tooling, and behaviours. It is a role with visibility, influence, and a clear progression path into a full Product Manager position. This is not a passive "requirements gathering" role. It is hands-on, people-facing, and change-oriented.

Up to £45,000 | Hybrid with monthly travel to Southampton

What you will work on

  • In your first year, you will spend time embedded with teams across the organisation to understand how work actually gets done today, where it breaks down, and what needs to improve as the company grows.
  • You will be trusted to:
  • Partner with product, engineering, and operational teams to understand delivery challenges and opportunities
  • Help design and introduce clearer ways of working that teams can realistically adopt
  • Analyse feedback and operational data to support better decisions
  • Create and deliver training materials that support new processes and cultural change
  • Act as a connector between teams, ensuring concerns are heard and addressed
  • Own initiatives around delivery strategy, internal tooling, and knowledge management

Success in this role is less about authority and more about credibility, trust, and follow-through.

Who this role is for

This role suits someone early in their career who is ready to step into a position with responsibility and visibility. You will be:

  • A recent graduate or early-career professional with a technical or analytical background
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and figuring things out as you go
  • Curious about how organisations work and how they could work better
  • Confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Mature in your thinking and able to see the bigger picture, not just the task in front of you

You do not need to have held a Product Manager title before. Evidence of initiative, structured thinking, and the ability to influence matters more.

Experience and skills

Essential:

  • A technical or analytical background, through education or practical projects
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a logical approach to thinking
  • Clear communication and relationship-building ability
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and challenge existing ways of working respectfully

Useful, but not required:

  • Exposure to product delivery, process improvement, or internal tooling
  • Experience leading projects or initiatives in university, volunteering, or early career roles

Location and working pattern

The role is hybrid. You can be based remotely within the UK, provided you are able to travel to Southampton for monthly in-person team sessions and be on-site when required. Reasonable mobility is expected.

Progression

This role is designed as a stepping stone into a Product Manager position. With strong performance, progression within 12-24 months is realistic. The business is committed to developing high-potential people and investing in their growth.

Salary: up to £45,000, depending on experience
