Infrastructure Support Engineer

Basingstoke – Hybrid

Our client is seeking a talented Infrastructure Engineer to join their support team to support BAU platform activities across a Windows cloud estate. Working within a team of 8 individuals this is a newly created role to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Support: Provide advanced 2nd and 3rd line IT support, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex issues. Focus on finding the root cause and implementing permanent solutions.
  • Platform Expertise: Work with Windows (or Linux) platforms, with a willingness to deepen knowledge in both.
  • Visualization & Storage: Administer visualization technologies and storage arrays.
  • Patch Management & Backup: Manage patching processes using software like SCCM or Intune, and handle backup concepts and software.
  • Incident Management: Use commercial Incident, Problem, and Change management tools
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of systems, procedures, and incident resolutions. Provide regular reports as needed.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in 2nd or 3rd line IT support.
  • Experience with Linux and/or Windows platforms.
  • Familiarity with public cloud environments
  • Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware, VxRail, Nutanix).
  • Experience with storage arrays (Dell Compellent, HPE Nimble).
  • Experience with patch management software
  • Knowledge of backup concepts and software.
  • Proficiency PowerShell scripting.
  • Endpoint protection and anti-virus management experience (SentinelOne).
  • Experience with commercial incident, problem, and change management tools (BMC Remedy, Halo preferred).
