Spectrum IT’s Birmingham client are actively seeking to recruit a Contract Junior Solution Architect to join them on an initial 6 month contract. The role has been deemed Outside IR35 and will be a hybrid working role requiring a minimum of 2 days onsite from the clients Birmingham office . The Junior Solution Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing technology solutions that are key to delivering a group-wide ERP transformation project. You will report into the Enterprise Architect and work alongside them on several large aspects of the project. Joining at the commencement of a 6-month discovery phase, you will be involved straight away with every functional facet of the business from bricks and mortar business to digital unification. The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background and deep understanding of integration patterns, tools, and technologies to ensure seamless data flow and interoperability across platforms. (The client see this as the single most challenging component to success in the role.) Suitable candidate for this role will be Technical or Integration leads, Technical Specialists or Developers keen to move into Architecture space. You will have experience of ERP Data integrations and wish to ultimately work on large scale transformation projects. Previous experience working on ERP Data integration projects within retail and/or large scale distribtion companies will be essential. Responsibilities Design and implement integration architectures to connect various systems and applications, often in a greenfield site with support of the Enterprise Architect (EA) Support EA and team on unpicking a true monolithic and legacy ERP Assist in staging curate and augment data to help get to true singular viewpoints Support design scalable, reliable, and secure solutions that meet business needs Contribute to architectural blueprints and detailed technical specifications creation and maintenance Assist in evaluating and recommending tools, technologies, and approaches to ensure high-quality solutions Assist on build of interfaces that are not natively interoperable Participate in the Architecture Review Board as a key approver Question the current interfaces and challenge the status quo Be prepared to lead as opposed to be lead when it comes to interfaces and standards Chair technical discussions and present solutions to stakeholders effectively Create and maintain documentation for integration processes and architecture Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and regulatory requirements Evaluate and select appropriate integration tools and technologies (e.g. ESB, API gateways, middleware). Skills & Experience The ability to offer practical solutions to a business that is changing direction Proven experience in a technical role or roles with a large technical capacity that have worked on data integration from legacy platforms into modern ERPs Experience with data migration and integration Experience from Retail, Omnichannel or large scale distribution sector Strong understanding of software development methodologies and practices Experience in data extraction/migration strategies with practical involvement Experience in designing and creating logical, physical and integration assets Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience with Architecture repositories Experience that could be a real advantage: Experience of an ERP migration in a technical capacity Exposure to Microsoft Business central and Azure, Power Apps Power Automate Experience in build an interface catalogue and data dictionaries/fact sheets Implementation of a Point-of-Sale Platform (beneficial) Implementation of a Demand and Forecasting Platform Experience of building a modular architecture eliminating P2P interfaces Experience in Data extraction and unification – involving Data Lake/Warehouse Experience of DevOps CD/CI and modern-day App frameworks Experience in Distribution B2B business in a technical facing capacity Background/experience in one of the following disciplines, Networks, Infrastructure, AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP or TOGAF accreditations This is a role suitable for an an aspiring Solution / Enterprise Architect who can bring technical experience but also learn and develop in the role.
