An exciting opportunity to shape the future of AI-driven software development within a growing technology organisation. We are recruiting for an experienced Software Architect to join an innovative software engineering team developing next-generation cloud-based solutions for the public safety and justice sector. This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished Software Architect with strong development experience who is passionate about modern software architecture, emerging AI technologies and delivering secure, scalable, high-quality applications.
The organisation is undergoing an exciting transformation towards AI-Native software development, embedding AI tools throughout the development lifecycle to improve design, implementation, testing and delivery. We are looking for someone who doesn't just understand AI conceptually but is already using tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex or similar in their day-to-day development work.
As Software Architect, you will take ownership of architectural design and technical direction, working closely with software engineers, product teams and stakeholders to deliver innovative, cloud-based solutions. You will play a key role in shaping an AI-led engineering environment, combining your technical expertise with modern development tools to improve software quality, scalability and delivery efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and design of secure, scalable and resilient cloud-based software solutions.
- Provide technical leadership across the software development lifecycle, from initial design through implementation, testing and deployment.
- Work extensively with C#, .NET and cloud technologies to develop and enhance complex software applications.
- Champion the practical use of AI development tools, including GitHub Copilot, Claude Code and Codex.
- Identify opportunities to improve software architecture, development processes and delivery through AI-assisted engineering.
- Ensure solutions meet high standards of security, performance, scalability and maintainability.
- Lead architectural decisions and establish best practices across development teams.
- Mentor developers and promote effective AI-assisted development, including reviewing and validating AI-generated outputs.
- Collaborate with Product Management and engineering teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Support technical troubleshooting, testing, code reviews and continuous improvement.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Software Architect, Solution Architect or Senior Software Engineer with significant architectural responsibilities.
- Strong hands-on development experience using C# and Visual Studio / Visual Studio Code.
- Experience designing and developing complex, cloud-based and multi-tenant applications.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns and SOLID principles.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and designing extensible integration solutions.
- Good knowledge of databases and Entity Framework or similar technologies.
- Experience with source control and development tools such as Git, Azure DevOps or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of application security, authentication and authorisation.
- Experience with unit testing, code reviews and software quality assurance.
- Practical, recent experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot, Claude Code, Codex or equivalent.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to take ownership of architectural decisions and ensure the quality and reliability of delivered solutions.
Desirable Skills
- CI/CD pipelines, TeamCity, GitHub and Azure DevOps.
- Windows Services.
- OWASP Top 10 and application security best practices.
- Experience using AI tools for architectural design, technical documentation, threat modelling or design reviews.
- Understanding of emerging AI-Native development patterns, including agentic workflows, automated evaluation and AI-assisted testing.
- Experience working on highly secure, business-critical or regulated software platforms.
This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking technology organisation where AI is becoming a fundamental part of software engineering rather than simply an additional development tool. You will have the opportunity to influence architectural strategy, introduce modern engineering practices and help shape how AI is responsibly incorporated into the design and delivery of business-critical software. The successful candidate will be encouraged to explore emerging technologies, challenge traditional approaches and take genuine ownership of technical decisions. You do not need to be an AI expert. What matters is that you are already using AI tools practically, understand their strengths and limitations, and are enthusiastic about adopting new approaches while maintaining high standards of software quality and accountability.
