Overview
The RF & Microwave Design Team provide innovative solutions serving aerospace, defence, and space markets, primarily in the design and development of radar and telecommunication products. In this role, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to design, test, and troubleshoot RF systems and support the development activities throughout the entire product lifecycle, including understanding customer requirements and supporting detailed design reviews and handover to manufacturing.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of RF circuit design, microwave techniques, and electromagnetic theory. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential. A passion for innovation in the defence and space industry, along with the ability to adapt to evolving technologies and methodologies, will contribute to your excellence in this position.
Main responsibilities
- Design and develop RF circuits that meet the technical requirements and are manufacturable.
- Conduct analysis and simulation of RF circuits using commercial tools and theory knowledge.
- Perform RF testing, characterisation, and optimisation to ensure functionality of the product.
- Conduct and contribute to design reviews and technical meetings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate RF circuits into systems.
- Assist manufacturing to resolve technical problems as required.
- Ensure Manufacturing Packages (BoMs, drawings, etc.) are generated and maintained using controlled Engineering change processes.
- Supervise and provide guidance to technicians engaged in the design and evaluation of components, sub-assemblies and assemblies.
- Keep up to date with technological advances by networking, attending seminars, forging links with universities, etc.
- Develop strong working relationships with other team members and production engineering to ensure that designs are fit for purpose and are manufactured cost efficiently.
Education
- Bachelor or masterβs degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent qualification/experience
Knowledge and experience
- Strong understanding of microwave techniques and electromagnetic theory.
- Proven experience in RF electronics design, simulation, testing, characterisation, and optimisation.
- Familiarity with RF measurement equipment and techniques.
- Knowledge of defence and space industry standards and regulations is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines.
