Job overview
Spectrum Community Health CIC are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to be part of the Management Accounts Team.
This role involves providing financial support for the Corporate Services within Spectrum.
We strive to provide the most accurate and in-depth financial assurances for the Finance Team as a whole and the wider business.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will be a CCAB part qualified Accounting member or equivalent having responsibility to deliver high-quality management accounting work which in-volves the analysis of financial information and preparation of financial reports.
- Responsible for ensuring that financial information is processed in accordance with Spectrum’s policies and procedures and ensure the work is completed in line with financial timescales.
- The post-holder will provide vital financial management support for income across commissioned contracts, corporate services and projects.
- The post will include monitoring of current and forecast financial position which will feed into the committee and board reporting.
- To assist and support the Head of Finance in the execution of the Board’s statutory financial responsibilities.
- To provide comprehensive financial support, advice and information to Heads of Department, delegated budget holder and all other levels of the Boards Management team so that they can provide the best corporate services within the limited budgeted resources available.
- Support the Head of Finance in detailed financial analysis in order to support Spectrum’s CIP workstreams focused at delivering value for money on an ongoing basis.
- Deputise for the finance teams Finance Managers as required.
- Provide training and support to the Assistant Management Accountants
- In addition, the post holder will be responsible for budget of junior staff within the Finance Department.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- 1. Communication and Relationships
- Communication of complex financial information to a range of financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders at all levels across the business.
- Analytical Data and Information
- Ensure all financial information is processed in accordance with Spectrum’s policies and procedures.
- Ensuring that budget reconciliations are accurately undertaken each month and fully documented to reflect current and forecast financial position across the range of expenditure within scope.
- Responsible for resolution of complex invoice queries, in particular VAT issues, through liaising with budget holders/suppliers on own initiative within the parameters of financial procedures
- Deal with daily routine and complex financial queries from staff, budget holders and suppliers and ensure appropriate solutions are found. Communicate statutory financial regulations to both financial and non-financial colleagues.
- Evaluate, analyse and interpret complex information prepared by providers, the team and budget holders for incorporation into financial performance reports.
- 2. Planning and Organisational Work
- Ensure the provision of timely financial information and reports to senior management and budget holders.
- Assists the Director of Finance and Head of Finance to agree budgets and savings plans with budget holders before the start of the financial year.
- Contribute to the formation of Spectrum’s annual budget setting process, ensuring accuracy in terms of financial cost and coding structures within the financial ledger. Meet with budget holders on a monthly basis to review budgetary performance and identify variances.
- Provide budget holders with timely, accurate and user‑friendly monthly budget re-ports, including interpretation and advice.
- Establish regular budget holder meetings for the year and ensure that actions are captured accurately and followed up appropriately.
- 3. Patient/Client Care

- Contribute as an effective team member within the finance function to facilitate the achievement of all finance objectives including evaluation of processes.
- Contribute as an effective member of a multi-disciplinary team, including participation in the evaluation and development of joint processes and systems to meet performance targets for financial services.
- Provide financial advice and training to all budget holders and undertake analysis and monitoring of budgets.
- To provide information as requested to the external auditors of Spectrum.

- Maintain Spectrum’s financial management policies and procedures in line with changes to the business.
- Contribute to the development of policies and procedures within the department, by suggesting and implementing changes which may have a wider impact across Spectrum

- Contribute to cost efficiencies within the service.
- 6. People Management and Development
- Delegate to the Assistant Management Accountants as necessary.
- Provide training to the Assistant Management Accountants on subject matters.

- Take responsibility for maintaining up-to-date knowledge and skills relevant to the role.
- Engage in annual appraisal and personal development planning, identifying training needs aligned with service priorities and professional goals.

Person specification
Education and Training
- Degree or equivalent in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience in finance.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Qualified Accountancy certificate.
Knowledge and Experience
- Developed specialist knowledge of financial and accounting procedures e.g. UK. GAAP
- Experience, knowledge and expertise of financial management.
- Knowledge of financial ledgers and reporting systems.
- Proven experience in operating financial ledgers.
