Are you a dedicated registered Pharmacy Technician looking for a new challenge within a diverse, fast paced setting? An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Pharmacy Technician to become part of an integrated clinical workforce at HMP Holme House. Pharmacy Technicians are forming an essential part of our excellence in care long-term plan and as a result are taking on more diverse patient-facing roles. No two days are the same working in our friendly and supportive team.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to support and develop the skills of pharmacy technicians to provide a varied range of services as well as some dispensary-based work. If you are interested in this post, you will need a minimum of NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy services and be a registered pharmacy technician. An accuracy checking pharmacy technician would be desirable.

Person Specification
Qualifications
- BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
- Appropriate accredited technician checking qualification
Knowledge
- Knowledge of medicines optimisation issues
- Pharmacy legal requirements and controlled drug legislation
- Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems
- Has a good understanding of security issues in relation to the prison environment
- Substance misuse knowledge
Skills
- Good clinical pharmacy knowledge including terminology
- Computer literate- able to use Word and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to prepare reports and bulletins
- Able to use Microsoft PowerPoint and Outlook (or competent to complete)
- Patient counselling skills
- Has a good understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues
- Ability to work in a complex and challenging environment
- Able to demonstrate a good standard of literacy and numeracy
- Able to interpret and understand prescribing information
- Medicines supply / administration direct to the patient
Experience
- At least 3 years post-qualification experience of working in community/hospital pharmacy
- Experience of working with potentially aggressive people
- Experience of working within challenging and complex situations
- Able to provide examples of diversity in practice
- Experience of working with substance misusers/services
- Experience of working in a prison environment or similar setting
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
£31,049 to £37,796 a year per annum pro rata.
