The Pharmacy Department is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Pharmacy Dispenser to support us in the delivery of pharmacy services at HMP Northumberland. Are you a community Pharmacy Dispenser looking for a new challenge? This is an opportunity to join our committed team working to provide a variety of support roles across the establishment.
Main duties of the job
As a Pharmacy Dispenser, you will assist with the provision and delivery of an integrated, safe, legal, high quality prison pharmaceutical service, taking into consideration the need to maintain a high level of security. You will be an integral member of the Healthcare Team, supporting the delivery of Pharmacy Services which will include supply of medication, supervision of administration of medication to prisoners, and providing services to service users within your competency.

Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential: NVQ level 2 in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent experience).
Knowledge and Experience
Essential: At least 2 years experience of working in community/hospital pharmacy.
Desirable: Knowledge of medicines management issues. Experience of working in a prison environment or similar setting.
Skills
Essential: Good clinical pharmacy knowledge including terminology. Computer literate – able to use Word and Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Has a good understanding of data protection and confidentiality issues.
