If so, we want you to join our UK sourcing team as a Senior Packaging Engineer for our key Companion Animal brands including the UKβs No.1 dog treat & toys brand, Good Boy.
The Role: As a Senior Packaging Manager, you will lead in the efforts to design solutions and exceed our customer expectations. In this technical leadership role you will be involved in concept and design reviews as well as prototyping and production reviews using your technical knowledge to ensure material, budget and design constraints are aligned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost improvement - Evaluate current packaging and create cost improvement strategies for both existing and new package designs.
- Compliance with Regulatory and Government bodies for packaging - Namely Waste Reporting (EPR UK) and Plastic Tax - Working with Internal and External resources to ensure timely reporting, compliance, submissions and payment of fees.
- Deliver packaging innovations and development β towards more sustainable packaging and putting a strategy in place to limit impact and drive brand credibility in this area and aligned to country regulations.
- Organization, planning and tracking of projects.
- System management and sampling.
- Stakeholder management and ensure customer success.
About You: You will have previous experience in package design or engineering/industrial design or package Engineering.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Degree in a related field - Package Design, Industrial Design, Chemical Engineering, or Package Engineering.
- Considerable knowledge of packaging solutions, including flexible, rigid across food and non-food product categories.
- 5+ years of experience preferred and ideally in consumer products packaging.
- Understanding of regulations, test procedures and bodies which are key to the role β across UK & EU.
- You will have experience in packaging legislation and governing bodies for both food and non-food categories for UK and EU distribution.
- Ability to translate packaging trends and regulations into packaging solutions which meet product and customer requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written English languages.
- You will be skilled at interfacing and influencing at all levels, specifically senior stakeholders both inside and outside of the organization.
- Experience interfacing with global suppliers, across different cultures and languages.
- Ability to facilitate dynamic, cross-functional groups and strong presentations.
- Sound financial acumen and of packaging assessments which deliver tangible cost improvements, across material, transport and efficiencies.
- Strong data management skills, including data analytics, multi and complex forms, loading data sets into operating systems.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office including Excel, SAP, packaging systems and applications.
- Knowledgeable in packaging software and applications - CAPE, ArtiosCAD, and Adobe Illustrator.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects successfully, across NPD, cost savings, legislation and sustainability.
