Established in 1979 in the valleys of South Wales, Spectacle Theatre creates bi-lingual theatre with and for people in their community. We create safe spaces and challenge exclusion, working with people of all ages, including those with complex or additional learning needs and/or challenging behaviour. Our mission is to transform lives through theatre, believing that theatre is for everybody, and all have a story to tell. Our work is led by the lived experience of the people we work with, and we deliver educational theatre productions, creative workshops, and recreational participatory sessions primarily across the South Wales Valleys.

The Opportunity

Spectacle Theatre is creating a new leadership team consisting of a Business Development Manager and an Artistic Team Leader. The aim is to improve organisational resilience and support growth and future sustainability. This is a pivotal moment to join our organisation and help shape our future direction.

The Role

Spectacle Theatre is seeking Actors / Creative Facilitators to co-deliver theatre and drama workshops in schools and in the community. Fee: Based on Equity / ITC terms. You will be self-employed and responsible for your own tax and national insurance. Spectacle Theatre is committed to safeguarding and protecting the people that engage in our activities and events. We create safe spaces where everyone feels welcome and included. Training for the posts can be provided.

About You

We are looking for people with:

  • Actors with a strong desire to work in Theatre In Education
  • Experience of facilitating creative sessions in school or community settings
  • Experience facilitating sessions with SEN young people
  • Ability to translate young people’s ideas into performance
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible with session content
  • Experience planning sessions with clear goals
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding young people
  • Commitment to inclusion and a broad understanding of the challenges young people and communities face
  • Reliable, collaborative, caring and able to work as part of a team
  • Experience of delivering theatre and drama projects with young people
  • Experience of engaging with young people and a willingness to undertake additional training to enhance skills, knowledge, and practice
  • Experience of delivering creative sessions using technology

  • Part-time, freelance contracts
